Public Health Emergency Preparedness

The Public Health Infrastructure (PHI) Grant is designed to develop and maintain a strong public health infrastructure capable of addressing and responding to a bioterrorism, terrorism, unintentional, or naturally occurring event that results in a public health threat or emergency. Communications systems, information technology systems, emergency plans, trainings, and disease reporting and monitoring have been developed and maintained by funds provided by the grant.

Emergency Response Plan for Public Review

The Vinton County Health Department invites the public to comment on the agency's Emergency Response Planning document. The public is encouraged to review the draft document and provide comments via the online survey below. All survey responses are anonymous. No private information is collected from the survey.

To address anticipated medical personnel shortages during large-scale emergency events, the Vinton County Health Department has established a Medical Reserve Corps to pre-identify, train, and organize medical and public health professionals to strengthen community health and emergency medical response through volunteerism.

Volunteers needed include:

Physicians

Physicians Assistants

Nurse Practitioners

Nurses/LPN's

Paramedics/EMT's

Pharmacists

Dentists

Mental Health Professionals

Midwives

Radiology Techs

Respiratory Therapists

Veterinarians

Chiropractors

Clerical Staff
