Tuberculosis

Tuberculosis (TB) testing and monitoring is very important to continue the decline in the number of cases and the transmission of TB in the United States. To help in control efforts, the Health Department offers TB skin testing to the public. Some specific groups are required to receive a TB skin test routinely. These include health care workers and some school age children and teachers. During 2005, the requirement for food service workers to receive an annual TB test was removed by the Board of Health.

The public health nursing staff follows up with any positive TB skin test and any report of TB as appropriate following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) guidelines.

TB testing is offered during the regular immunization clinic hours.
