Immunization Clinics

The health department provides immunizations and immunization education to the residents of Vinton County. Immunizations are provided to both children and adults. The health department provides all required childhood immunizations (Varicella, DTaP, Tdap, IPV, MMR, HIB, Meningitis and Hepatitis B) and elective childhood immunizations ( Hepatitis A, Prevnar and Influenza). Vaccines such as Tetanus, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, Pneumonia, and Influenza are provided to adults. Information on the required immunizations for child care, head start, pre-school, and school attendance can be found below.

Immunizations are offered at the health department at the following days and times:

Monday's: 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M.

Wednesday's: 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. 

Immunizations are provided at low cost. Medicaid and United Health Care are accepted. No child will be denied immunizations for inability to pay.

Special immunization clinics are held throughout the year including National Infant Immunization week and for school immunizations in August. Immunization educational materials are distributed at health fairs, local fairs and festivals and through other programs such as Women Infants & Children (WIC), Help Me Grow (HMG), and the Bureau for Children with Medial Handicaps (BCMH).
